Planting Tomatoes

Before begin planting tomato, we should understand the tomato plant characteristics and the relation with the seasons. Actually tomato can grow in the rainy season even many disturbances because tomato fruit easily spoil when directly contact with rain water. Planting the tomato in dry season more save and resulting more fruits but should be able to handle many pests on this season.

Some guideline on planting tomato as follows:

1. Prepare field as planting media, tomato can grow fertile in loose soil. The loose soil is about 30 to 40 cm. Before seeding on this field, lets the field empty for several days to lessen the pest availability.
2. Make beds for planting with wide about 100 cm to 200 cm and the length of 10 m to 15 m or can make suit with the land condition.
3. Give base fertilizer, compost and TSP can use as the base fertilizers. This fertilizer can be mixed up with the loose soil or by dig in separate place with distance 15 cm to 20 cm and then cover by soil.
4. Tomato seeding, seed can directly lay on the preparing field or can be seeding first in other place, after grow then move to this field.
5. Planting, tomato can be planted with two kind distance or range, with distance 50 x 50 cm or 60 x 60 cm or random system. Random system has aim to lets bud grow become a branch.
6. Fertilization and taking care, after all the seed being planted, then we just give fertilizer and take care tomato plants. Fertilizers can use compost or others.
